The on board notation is signed and indicates as follows: Shipped on board Argo 26-Sep-2016 CMA CGM AND ANL AGENCIES (NZ) LTD As Agents for the Carrier The bill of lading is signed and indicates as follows: Signed for the carrier ANL Singapore Pte Ltd CMA-CGM GROUP (AUSTRALIA) PTY LTD As Agent for the Carrier Can I raise the discrepancy “Bill of lading showing different agents”? Thank you. PT ————- ANSWER Hi, I think the bill of lading is acceptable. According to ISBP 745 paragraph E24, any correction of data on a bill of lading is to be authenticated. Such authentication is to appear to have been made by the carrier, master (captain) or any one of their named agents, who may be different from the agent that may have issued or signed a bill of lading, provided they are identified as an agent of the carrier or the master (captain). If you raise such a discrepancy the presenter may reject, arguing that the on board notation was added later by its another agent as a correction duly authenticated, hence, it is acceptable as per paragraph E24. Kind regards, Mr. Old Man
