Articles Discovery on the cycling road Lifestyle Mr Old Man SORRY, PHÒ NAM By Mr Old Man Posted on April 2, 2025 3 min read 0 0 17 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr Since my first cycling trip exploring Hòa Bắc over seven years ago, I have ridden past the villages of An Định, Hội Yên, Nam Yên, Lộc Mỹ, Nam Mỹ, and Phò Nam hundreds of times, continuing all the way up to Tà Lang – Giàn Bí. I have taken thousands of photos and written dozens of articles about the roads and landscapes of An Định, Khe Răm, Hội Yên Parish, Nam Yên, and, especially, the journeys back to Tà Lang – Giàn Bí and the “Million-Year Rock Field.” And yet, I have never written a piece dedicated solely to Phò Nam. Even though most of the photos taken from Nam Yên capture the breathtaking beauty of the Phò Nam Valley across the Cu Đê River—where vast sugarcane fields, endless stretches of green cornfields, and rolling hills draped in mist create a stunning panorama—Phò Nam itself has never been the focus. Sorry, Phò Nam! This morning, I cycled to Nam Yên again, crossed the bridge, and visited the Phò Nam Valley. This time, I stood on the Phò Nam side, photographing Nam Yên on the other side of the river—the water dock, Hội Yên Parish Church, grazing buffaloes and cows, and the Cu Đê River, always enchanting in its dreamy beauty. Cycling here in the morning, taking a few photos, then sitting on a rock by the riverbank to watch the clouds, gaze at the peaceful hometown river, sip hot tea, nibble on some snacks, and breathe in the fresh air—there’s truly nothing better! — Mr. Old Man, 10/2022
