PLS HELP ME IN THIS CASE: DOCUMENT REQUIRED IN LC : " CERTIFICATE OF ANTIBIOTIC AND CHEMICAL CERTIFIED BY NAFIQAD " WE PRESENTED A CERTIFICATE OF ANTIBIOTIC AND A CERTIFICATE OF CHEMICAL. BANK REFUSE BECAUSE DOCS ARE PRESENTED IN TWO SEPERATE DOCS IN STEAD OF ONE DOCUMENT AS REQUIRE. PLS GIVE ME THE REASON TO PROTEST AGAINST THE ISSUING BANK. THANKS AND REGARDS.HAVE A GOOD DAYS !———————–ANSWER Dear Q.Don’t worry too much. It is acceptable. A requirement for a Certificate of Antibiotic and Chemical will be satisfied by presentation of a single document as required or by a separate Certificate of Antibiotic and Certificate of Chemical provided each document appears to fulfil its function and is presented in the number of originals and copies as required by the L/C.ISBP 681 does not give a clear answer to this question. However, ISBP xxx Draft 3 (2012) makes it as follows: QUOTEA document required by a credit that is to cover more than one function may be presented as A SINGLE DOCUMENT or SEPARATE DOCUMENTS that appear to fulfil each function. For example, a requirement for a Certificate of Quality and Quantity will be satisfied by presentation of a single document or by a separate Certificate of Quality and Certificate of Quantity provided each document appears to fulfil its function and is presented in the number of originals and copies as required by the credit.UNQUOTE For argument, you can refer the issuing bank to the above quote from ISBP xxx Draft 3 (2012). Best regards,Mr. Old ManP/s: I have written a nine – page article on ISBP revision which may be published in next issue of Banking Review.
