QUESTION
Dear Mr. Old Man,
I have query regarding “banking days”.
My office open regularly from Monday to Friday to handling documents (for LC). One day (in Saturday), my staffs came to office in order to change our workstation/layout of office. Suddenly, a courier service came to our counter gave my staff many of documents .
Since we received the documents, is that day (Saturday) deemed as banking day ?
Note:
– My bank as issuing bank
– Documents which have been received from presenting bank.
Thank you.

ANSWER
Hi,
Article 2 UCP 600 defines banking day as a day on which a bank is REGULARLY OPEN at the place at which an act subject to the UCP is to be performed.
Your bank is not open regularly on Saturday, hence, Saturday is not deemed to be your banking day notwithstanding that the courier service delivered the documents to your staff on that day.
The presentation in your case is deemed to be made on the next banking day, i.e. next Monday.
Kind regards,
Mr. Old Man
