Regards ———————– COMMENT FROM MR. OLD MANIssuance Date, Not On Board Date Dear Jimmy, If the L/C requires a presentation to be made a certain number of days after the date of issuance of the transport document, the date of issuance of the transport document will be used for calculation of the presentation period whether or not it is the same as or different from the on board date. On the contrary, if the L/C requires a presentation to be made a certain number of days after the date of shipment and the on board notation indicates the date on which the goods are shipped on board, this on board date will be used for calculation of the presentation period whether or not it is the same as or different from the date of issuance of the transport document. My reasoning is based on UCP 600 Article 19 (a)(ii) which states as follows: “the date of issuance of the transport document will be deemed to be the date of dispatch, taking in charge or shipped on board, and the date of shipment. However, if the transport document indicates, by stamp or notation, a date of dispatch, taking in charge or shipped on board, this date will be deemed to be the date of shipment”. Best regards.
