However, on other docs, the vessel s name is 123W (without a V. ). Is it a discrepancy? I thought that V. just stands for Voyage No. so it is not a discrepancy, but my manager disagreed. Await your reply ^^! Nguyen Trang ———————— COMMENT Hi Nguyen Trang, It is normal that vessel name and voyage number are indicated in the same box on the b/l. It depends on the structure of the b/l that you may come across some various indications as follows: Vessel name Port Land Senator 0055 w (Port Land Senator is the vessel name, and 0055w is the voyage number) or Vessel name and voyagage no. Victory 0033E (Victory is the vessel name, and 0033E is the voyage number) or Vessel Voy. No Mary Celeste 123w (Mary Celeste is the vessel name, and 123w is the voyage number) I do not have your said b/l in my hand so it’ s not easy for me to say whether your manager is correct. Yet, I agree with you that “V.” may stand for voyage . I think “V.123W” is not the vessel name but the voyage no. Please check your b/l to determine whether the b/l indicates the vessel name. If the b/l indicates a certain vessel name, for example, M/v Mermaid, then “V.123W” or “123W” is certainly the voyage no., and you are right: it is not a discrepancy. Best regards,Mr. Old Man …
