Pre Carriage ABC 2. Ocean Vessel DEF 3. Port of Loading Belawan Medan, Indonesia 4. Port of Discharge Felixstowe B/L indicates shipped on board ABC at Belawan dd. 21/08/2008. I want to know whether this B/L's condition is right. How is your opinion? Best Regards Mrs. Elfrida——————————————– COMMENT Dear Mrs. Elfrida, Thanks for your intelligent query. You may agree with me that where the bill of lading indicates two vessels: pre-carriage vessel and ocean vessel, the shippedcon board notation must show: (i) the name of the vessel that leaves the port of lading, the port of loading and the date of loading on board. A correct on board notation in this case is as follows: Shipped on board DEF at Belawan Medan, Indonesia on August 21, 2008 The shipped on board “Shipped on board ABC at Belawan Medan, Indonesia on August 21, 2008” is not correct as it shows shipped on the pre-carriage vessel that does not leaves the port of loading. As said, the goods should have been shipped on board DEF at the port of lading. The said bill of lading is deemed as discrepant. Best regards,Mr. Old Man (Nguyen Huu Duc) …
