DON’T WAIT… UNTIL YOU HAVE IT ALL

Sitting at my usual coffee corner on the weekend, scrolling through Facebook, Mr. Old Man came across an English post summing up life in three phases.

The more I thought about it, the more I felt there was some truth in it — at least for me. And I guess it probably applies to most people, except for a lucky few… or those blessed with exceptionally good luck!

The post goes like this:

Life has three phases:

# Youth:
You have time and energy, but… no money.

# Adulthood:
You have money and energy, but… no time.

# Old age:
You have money and time, but… not much energy left.

The lesson:

Enjoy what you have, because you rarely have all three at the same time: Time – Money – Energy.

Makes sense, doesn’t it?

Young people: You may have plenty of time and energy but not much money. So make the most of what you have. Don’t think you need money before you can start doing the things you enjoy.

Middle-aged people: You may have money and energy, but time is always in short supply. So try to make some time. Don’t keep postponing everything with, “I’ll do it later…”

And for those in their seventies… well, that’s a matter of luck!

You may finally have money and time, but how much energy is left… only God knows!

But anyway, as long as you can still move, there’s still a chance.

If you can walk, walk.
If you can cycle, cycle.
If you can swim, get in the water.

You don’t have to do anything extraordinary. Use what you have, and enjoy it while you still can.

Easy to say. Much harder to do.

Mr. Old Man is simply following the same rule of life:

Do what you can, and be happy with that.

Because if you keep waiting until you have all three — money, time and energy — you may end up waiting…

forever!
